tell me how wild did your imagination run as a kid & i’ll tell you how creative you’ll be as an adult. or better, show you. show you two of the brightest examples: Mary Katrantzou, the greek-born/london-based designer that raised the bar of prints in a whole other level & Erik Madigan…
Well here’s a new, and I would say improved, pattern design for me to play around with!
I actually really like this one, and I love the ‘reflective’ colours set on the black background, but unfortunately for this particular design project, I don’t think black is going to be the best colour to use… at all! After all, this is about getting our cyclists noticed!
……however, I’m going to hold on to this print, and perhaps we’ll see it pop up again for something else ;)
Good afternoon :)
So I’ve just started working on some designs for the TfL SIDSY (Sorry I Didn’t See You) accessory challenge!
Gunna admit straight away…. Sportswear is NOT MY FORTE! I don’t do sports, I don’t watch sports…. I don’t even like hearing people talk about sports….. so as you can imagine this really is quite the challenge for me!
But none the less I’m willing to give it my best shot :)
The brief is to design a accessory that not only looks fashionable and stylish, but will also increase the safety and visibility of our cyclists.
Soooo, my first instinct when thinking about what to use as inspiration was…. TROPICAL FISH! :) I wanted to look at something that was going to be full of wonderful colours and patterns, and as you can see from my source board, the fish have this beautiful neon glow, which is something I’d like to really focus on!
I’ve started by drawing some concept shapes, and basically playing around with colours lifted directly from the fish, just to see what I can experiment with. Of course, like always I have no direction at this point and I don’t know where it’s going to quite go, so it’s all about having a little fun with it, and really trying out anything you like!
So I also decided that I was going to experiment with creating some patterns, buuut I really don’t like this current one lol, so that’s something I need to go back and try again with :)

I have a new found respect and obsession with Andrej Pejic. He is one of the most beautiful people I have laid eyes on and the most…
This to me is a perfect example of a modern day-dress. Throw on some funky heels and a boat load of bangles and you are ready to face the day.
